On the morning of 16 April 2014, a ferry capsized off the east coast of South Korea, resulting over 300 deaths. Most of those perished were teenagers on a high school trip to Jeju.
Many crew members including the captain abandoned the ferry and survived, while the majority of the passengers anxiously waited inside to be rescued. The passengers followed the staffs' instructions to stay put inside the sinking ship.
Even today Koreans do not know whereabouts of the former president Park on the fateful morning. She was impeached and removed from the office in March 2017.

We remember how powerless one felt watching so many children being taken away in the sinking Sewol ferry.
And one of the children's father has begun fasting to request the Assembly to pass a special bill in order to coduct a formal enquiry to investigate the incident.
Now his life is in danger due to the prolonged fasting. He is getting thin and weak day by day. As each day passes, he is getting closer to death. Should we just stand and watch someone dying again?
No, we must intervene. Firstly we must prevent further tragedies in relation to the Sewol ferry.
The friends and families of the dead h에이브이e been been dealing with undescribable pain and suffering since the event. And so we should also put our minds together to keep them from experiencing any additional harms.
